Flying Business Class from Chicago to Rome

A seasonal nonstop, then connections in winter

ITA Airways lists Chicago on its network as a May to October 2026 route between O'Hare (ORD) and Rome Fiumicino (FCO). Its Chicago to Rome page shows flight AZ629 leaving O'Hare at 15:00 and landing in Rome at 07:25 the next morning, local time, a scheduled 9 hours 25 minutes.

For November to April travel we could not confirm a nonstop on any airline's official pages. In our own business class fare search run on 21 October 2026 for 5 December 2026 departures, every result connected once, with Icelandair and Turkish Airlines. If you are flying in winter, a Business Class Deal advisor can compare connection points and layover length for your dates.

ITA's Business and Premium Economy seats to Rome

On its A350 and A330neo aircraft, ITA's long-haul Business seat reclines to 180 degrees and gives every passenger direct aisle access. We could not confirm from ITA which of those aircraft flies AZ629. ITA also sells Premium Economy on all its intercontinental routes to the Americas, in a cabin of no more than 24 seats.

ITA does not list a First cabin. Business is the top cabin on its Chicago nonstop, and our advisors can check whether any airline sells First on a connecting itinerary for your dates.

O'Hare lounges for Chicago to Rome flights

ITA Airways joined Star Alliance on 1 April 2026. United's Polaris Lounge at O'Hare is in Terminal 1 near gate C18 and opens from 07:00 to 21:00. We could not confirm ITA's O'Hare terminal or whether its passengers may use the Polaris Lounge, so confirm lounge access with your airline when you book.

Arriving at Rome Fiumicino from Chicago

Terminal 3 is Fiumicino's main terminal for intercontinental and non-Schengen flights. Since 12 October 2025, the EU Entry/Exit System has recorded the entry of non-EU visitors, including US citizens, with fingerprints and a photo. US e-passport holders are on the list of travelers who can use Fiumicino's arrival e-gates.

Business Class travel tips

Confirm the seat, not just the cabin

Business Class products differ widely by aircraft. Ask our advisors which seat type operates your specific flight before you commit.

Use the lounge on both ends

A Business Class ticket from Chicago normally includes lounge access before departure and, on many carriers, an arrivals lounge in Rome. Ask which lounges apply to your booking.

Check the fare rules before you book

Premium fares vary in how changes and refunds are handled. Our advisors will walk you through the exact conditions of the fare you are considering.

Arrive with time to enjoy it

Priority check-in and security cut queue time, but arriving a little earlier lets you make use of the lounge rather than rushing to the gate.
